How To Be More Relatable On Social Media

How To Be More Relatable On Social Media

For me, being relatable is connecting with others. And with social media it’s connecting with others on an emotional level. I would be absurd to think that if I post a picture on instagram, people should just magically connect with me. No, it takes skills and practice. For example, think of a time when you read a caption or saw an image that described your situation perfectly. How did you react? Did you feel a connection? Below, I am sharing three ways to be more relatable to your audience on social media.

1) Know Who You Are Serving—basically know who your audience is and add realistic value to their lives. Look at your analytics to see the percentage of male to female ratio. Where is majority of your audience located? How old is your audience? These and some others are major questions to ask yourself. Then…give your audience what they want. Not sure on what I mean? Go back to your old posts and see which ones performed well and re-create similar content. Yes, I know most of you will have this attitude of posting what you want. And that is fine.. but remember, your audience is who is going to build you.

2) SMILE- for me this is huge. I enjoy looking at accounts with owners who smile in their pictures. I feel a connection with these people because they have an aura that I like. And their instastories tend to be very interesting. And if you’re very shy—then work on it while exploring different avenues on social media. Be fun and bodacious. Nobody wants to truly engage with a party pooper who is always frowning—so take this in account. Be proud of who you are and what you have to offer so that it resonates with others.

3) Be REAL- yes authenticity does the job. And people will see through the bullshit. Excuse my French. To be real is to be vulnerable and that’s what most people crave. And if they don’t crave it—then that’s okay too. The world is so full of fake ness that realness is overlooked. I like reading about other people’s experiences and emotions— not constant cliche advice that we have heard before.

It’s easy to create content that will be click bait—but getting people to connect is another story. It takes time to develop authentic relationships. so continue creating, practice authenticity and connections. Until next time! Thanks for reading!!

XOXO
